We are planning a trip to the BBC Proms on Saturday 19th July. We will be promming (i.e. standing up/sitting on the floor, rather than going in posh seats) which will cost four quid. I've never been to one but apparently it's a good experience and generally a good laugh, even if you're not that into classical music.
Berlioz: Damnation of Faust - Hungarian March
15 minutes of Arias and Duets chosen by phone/internet vote in the preceeding weeks
Prokofiev: Peter and the Wolf, narrated by Sir David Attenborough
Walton: Facade - excerpts
Vaughan Williams: The Lark Ascending
Britten: Folk Song arrangements
Khachaturian: Spartacus - Suite no 2
Ian and Laura have invited anyone who wants to stay at theirs afterwards, so rough plan is get train from theirs into London am, Deep Pan Pizza for lunch (?5.50 apparently), frisbee etc in the park, then start queueing approx 5pm (may be earlier, but will be a good laugh in the queue anyway), see concert, return to Ian and Lauras. Total cost probably about £25 including return train fare from Rugby, Tube tickets, lunch and concert ticket. Anyone who wanted to meet us in London or just for the concert or whatever would be more than welcome.
So far the four who know about it are going, but if anyone else is interested could you please let me know (no commitment) just for an idea of how big a group we will have.
Also, if you want to stay at Ian and Laura's please tell them - they need to know by the Saturday before (12th July).
